07-07-2020 - What's so special about this date?Long time back,7 is just a number until a train ticket collector opted his jersey number as seven which is now turned in to emotions of millions.23 Dec 2004 was the day everyone wondered about this guy who's having completely a different look in a predator type hair style.He came to the field when everyone sat fingers crossed and looking forward to know about this new guy. 'Every masters were once a beginner' and there's a debut for everyone and that day was his debut in ODI international against Bangladesh.Obviously we all shiver when we are provided with competitive opportunity and he's no way different from this and ending up in zero runs that too by run out which is later believed that his running is his biggest strength.
That day none of us would've believed that the same guy is going to add the trophies in all format for India.A year later,match against Srilanka had showed who he is and what he is capable of by scoring nail biting 183 runs and by just 17 runs he lost the world's first record of what Sachin is holding now.
Everyone knows what had happened in the successive years and a single post is not enough for capturing all his success and records but the question is,Did he get enough in return of what he deserved?Honestly,answer is big NO!One of my friends said,internet is totally flooded with MSD on his b'day and isn't too much for him.I said,no!definitely not and in fact he deserves much more than this.
His success grows so do the criticisms.When we have nothing to do against someone obviously we take 'criticism' as a powerful weapon to destroy and degrade them.Criticism started to grow for MSD when some fans thought their favorite players's records were going to be smashed by him especially fans of the great Sachin Tendulkar.
But it's a complete rubbish or meaningless to compare Sachin with Dhoni because it's like to see the balance between north and south pole.What brought this comparison?None other than the clash of fans.
Sachin and Dhoni are two different kings of cricket dynasty in two different eras but two of them are the greatest kings that cricket dynasty had ever seen. They did their best for what their period had demanded.So its really hard to weigh the achievements of two kings.
But however we are convinced like this,there are certain differences in their way of ruling(playing) and to pin point the one difference is 'captaincy'.This is the term which made us to compare and even though Sachin had smashed many records,one could easily comment that he had always played for his personal records irrespective of India's win or lose situation and no one could deny and its a slight doubt for all since we all know how Sachin would play when his score was in or above 90.
When Sachin was provided with captaincy,he himself said that he had to struggle for maintaining the balance between consistency in his batting and being a captain for the team and ended up giving up the captaincy after India faced streak of loss.Now,this is where the fans of Dhoni putting their firm belief that Sachin was unfit for captaincy and MSD is way best in playing and leading the team as well. Doesn't it sound right?
Captaincy is not the only thing that made fans to debate also their position in team. Sachin was the opening batsman in most of the matches he had played and which make us to believe that is the significant reason for breath taking world records in cricket history and on the other side Dhoni who always come in the tailing end and finishing off the matches in his style without bothering his personal records.
Once upon a time people switch off their TVs after Sachin got out believing that India would lose if Sachin was gone until the era of Dhoni arrived which changed their mindset when the same Sachin had gone for just 18 runs in world cup final and made people to say,Sachin is gone.So what?our 'Thala Dhoni' is there. Dhoni makes even their haters to believe winning chance is high if he is there.Who knows,Dhoni would've made people forget Sachin's records if he had opened all the matches like Sachin but he brought the new terminology "BEST FINISHER"
Even there are 'n' number of reasons to call Sachin as selfish player yet people tag the most selfless player Dhoni as selfish who paved the way for many young players into the team replacing the favorite 90's players.If Ganguly is the reason for the best Indain team of 90's then Dhoni is the ever best for making a new version of Indian team who introduced Rohit and Dhawan as openers and Kohli who's in progress of becoming a world class captain.Its irony when people call this man as selfish who gave off his captaincy when he thought his time is over and someone has to receive who is well deserved.
Now,Sachin vs Dhoni. Who is the best? Well, its a hypothetical question because these two can't be compared even though Dhoni fans have significant points to justify Dhoni is far better than Sachin.
So Sachin is Sachin and Dhoni is Dhoni but one fact is assured. Sachin is almost replaced by the records of Kohli but we can't firmly say that Dhoni will be replaced in future which is near impossible.I don't think this cricket world would again witness player like Dhoni who is the best in captaincy and wicket keeping.
We all know how the farewell went for Sachin even he was almost out of form in certain matches before retirement.Millions of fans still looking and hoping Dhoni for one last ODI tournament and the best farewell in case if he decides to quit after all he deserves much more than this.
This man behind the stumps is 'INEVITABLE' and irreplaceable in the world of cricket.Yes!
Beginners are many but the world class 'BEST FINISHERS' are few.
